The Castles and the Polesine Villas
The territory around Rovigo was an important area for the historical power struggle between the Republic of Venice and the Duchy (Dukes) of Ferrara. This itinerary offers a selective visit of some of the fascinating monuments that date back to the period


1st day
Arrival at Lendinara and a visit of this tiny city which is the home of the Pilastrello Sanctuary, where thousands of devote believers come in pilgrimage every year, as well as the Cà Dolfin. The fourteenth century architecture of the residence of the Dolfin family in Lendinara presents notable Venetian characteristics, the wall facing the street has embellishments that offer the observer the impression of a city palace while the posterior sides demonstrate more subtle suburban villa decorations. On this part Giuseppe Jappelli created a romantic park in the 1800’s.
Participants are then brought to Fratta Polesine to visit The Unique Polesine Palladian Villa- Villa Badoer, which has recently been recognized as a World Heritage Site. Lunch in a restaurant.
In the afternoon a visit to the Arquà Polesine for a view of the Castle, a defensive structure dates back to the XII century; the castle was the site of the struggle for rule of the city Ferrara and later in the XV century the castle was transformed into a Dominican Residence which became the
2nd day: THE DELTA OF THE PO RIVER
After Breakfast in the hotel, departure for the Po Delta and a visit to the Cà Vendramin, water pump dating back to 1900, one of the artifices of the agricultural reclamation of this area that until this time had been little more than swampland. Today Cà Vendramin has become the Museo
Regionale della Bonifica (Regional Museum of Land Reclamation), an ideal spot to begin to discover this incredible territory, the youngest in Italy.
Followed by a transfer to the boarding point at the docks to begin a 2 hour boat tour to explore the delta, the only Italian Delta and one of the most interesting in Europe. At the end of the tour lunch in a restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit to Adria the cultural canter of the Delta and a visit to the National Archeological Museum which has a vast collection of Paleoveneti, Etruscan, Greek and Roman exhibits.
In the evening returning departure and the end of services.
